The speaker lids are unpainted, it may have scratch occurred, we recommend considering painting. Before painting you need basic body prep (filler, sanding, primer)
The lids have pre-drilled holes, you just use the existing hardware from your current saddlebags and bolt them right on. (Note: You will need to figure out some way to fasten cloth tethers since the standard location of the tether mounts is different due to the speaker location. Some customers have used a cable instead of cloth tethers.)
